Why Betsi Uses Acrylics
Acrylic Paint Acrylic paint eliminates the odor of oil painting.
It is permanent, retains its color, very durable and immune to yellowing or cracking over time. A mistake can be easily corrected by wiping off with a wet cloth before it dries, or by painting over the area.
History Of Acrylic Paint Acrylic paints were developed in the United States in the early 1920's and primarily used for industrial purposes. In the late 1950's, some artists began to find this bright-colored medium to be more versatile than oils due to its rapid drying time.
Tip: When painting with acrylics, it is very important to never allow the paint to dry in your brushes. This will ruin your brushes. While working on a painting, keep a large jar of water handy to place your brushes into when not in use. When you are finished for the day, give your brushes a thorough cleaning with cold water and soap, getting all the paint out of the heel where the bristles enter the metal ferrule.
